Bandera was a success!

Brad finished in 2hrs 40minutes for 27th place overall out of a field of about 200 (not too shaby!). I finished in 3hrs 17minutes, which I will gladly take for my first distance run (about 112th out of the field I think).

It was a beatiful course with friendly folks. I'll be looking forward to next year!

3 days until Bandera. Here's what the race organizer had to say about the 25k:

25km Course
This course is a single 25km loop and it is very nasty. You will get a large dose of hills. Its a short walk to the start line out behind the Lodge. Your race starts up a side trail to Lucky Peak and then on to Last Chance. This follows with Cairns Climb, Boyles Bump, Big Nasty, Sky Island, and then to xRoads and Lucky Peak again. You do miss Ice Cream Hill and the Sisters. Last Chance is your last stop and then strait back in the last half-mile to the finish at the Lodge.

I was feeling pretty good about myself until i read that!

Hey Brad,

I've not gotten up to 10 miles at a go yet, but I did 8 miles on the streets in my nieghborhood today. I'm out west so there are a fair amount of hills and it was a good workout. It felt nice to be running in the sunshine again!

My dad is also training for the Bandera run and he did 10 miles down in San Antonio at a place called Government Canyon. He said the trails were pretty rugged and that there was a fair amount of elevation change. I'm going to try to join him for a training run down there one weekedn before we hit up Bandera. We'd love to have you join us so let me know if you are interested. We could roll down together to save on gas...

Gosh, I guess it's official. I'm turning in to a runner. I wonder what my mother would say...
